What is Oratory?

Oratory helps you connect, create, and collaborate. The app is built around collabs—collaborative spaces where you can chat, share content, and work with others. As a collaborator, you can browse collabs, create your own, join others, and manage the collabs you're part of.

What you can do

  • Browse collaborations: On the home page you'll see Featured and Explore collabs. Open any collab to view details, chat, and content.
  • Create a collab: Use "New Collab" (in the nav or from home) to create a collab. Set the title, description, type, and image, then publish.
  • Join a collab: From a collab's page, request to join. The creator approves requests via Dashboard → Join requests.
  • Manage your collabs: As creator or collaborator you can edit details, add or remove collaborators, use chat, and upload content. You can delete a collab if you have management rights.
  • Request collaborators: Invite other users to a collab you manage. They'll receive a notification and can accept or decline.
  • Profile: Update your name and preferences in My Profile.

What you cannot do

As a collaborator you cannot manage other users' accounts, approve or reject institution join requests, see all collabs in the system, or manage institution settings.

I'm an Institution Admin

What is an Institution Admin?

You represent an institution and have extra tools for that institution's users and join requests, and for collabs tied to your institution. You can do everything a collaborator can, plus the tasks below.

What you can do (in addition to Collaborator tasks)

  • Institution collabs on Home: A section "Manage all collaborations from your institution" lists collabs from your institution. You can open and edit them and view audit logs.
  • Admin dashboard: When you go to /admin, you'll see:
    • Pending Join Requests: Users who requested to join your institution. You can Approve or Reject. Approving grants them collaborator access and links them to your institution.
    • Institution Users: A list of users in your institution with a "View Profile" option for details.
  • User Management: The "User Management" link in the nav gives you access to user management for your institution.

What you cannot do

You cannot create, edit, or delete institutions; assign or change Institution Admins or Super Admins; or change app-wide settings.

  • You are responsible for what you post and share.

3. Your Content

  • You keep ownership of anything you create and upload.
  • By posting on the app, you give us permission to display and share your content within the platform so others can collaborate with you.
  • Do not upload content that you don't have the right to share (for example, someone else's copyrighted work without permission).

4. Community Rules

  • To keep CollabOratory safe and respectful, you agree not to:
  • Post anything harmful, bullying, offensive, or illegal.
  • Pretend to be someone else.
  • Share personal information (like your home address or phone number) publicly.
  • Use the app to spam or advertise without permission.

5. Safety and Privacy

  • We do our best to keep the app safe, but we can't guarantee everything you see will always follow the rules.
  • Please report anything that makes you uncomfortable.
  • See our Privacy Policy below for details on how we handle your data.

6. Ending Use

  • You can stop using the app at any time.
  • We may remove content or suspend accounts if these rules are broken.

7. Changes to These Terms

  • We may update these terms from time to time. If we make major changes, we will let you know in the app.

  • Let you use the app (log in, create projects, collaborate).
  • Keep the app safe and fair.
  • Improve the app by understanding how people use it.

3. Sharing Your Information

  • We do not sell your information to anyone.
  • We may share your info only if:
  • You choose to share content publicly in the app.
  • We need to with trusted service providers who help run the app (like cloud hosting).

4. Safety for Young People

  • Do not share personal details in public posts.
  • If you are under 18, you should have a parent/guardian's permission to use the app.
  • We may remove posts or accounts that put safety at risk.
